SEA POLLUTION IN GAZA STRIP

Gaza Strip is located on the middetirrenean sea, Gaza Strip Beach is the only place for the Palestinian to enjoy their time and for intertainment, especialy in the summer time.

Gaza Strip is closed area and it is under the siege since more than a year. and life in Gaza strip is so much chocking and people even hardly find basics to continue being alive

This summer 2008 is different for Gaza Strip people and no way to have little fun by manking a trip to the beach. unfortunatily every student, every one got frustrated this summer. No camps on the beach, no more fun there . even Fish has different taste!

there is a real problem on the beach and here is the declaration i tryed to translate in English and i hope some one who care read it.

I provided pictures to show what the declaration says if my English is not understandable.

'' Environmental Authority in Gaza Strip (Palestine) has warned against swimming in some areas which no more good for swimming at Gaza Beach, to protect people from being exposed to Environmental Pollution.
.
June 29th the Environmental Quality said in a journalistic statement about a report prepared by the technical committee for watching beach water consists of Health Ministry, Environmental Quality Authority and representatives of the Islamic University in Gaza and World Health Organization " A field survey has been made on Gaza Strip beaches, and found that the Sea water has 2 colors cleared seen by the natural eye.

There are degrees of greyish green and greyish green to black in some areas due to the degree of pollution that extends 50 meter deep from the shore.
.
There is seaweed along the beach , and concentrated in areas which have sewage outlets.
This seaweed is a clue to pollution affects on human health.

The Declaration refers to field analyses that were made to measure water temperature, Air temperature, Acidity degree, melted Oxygen, wind velocity and wind direction, for 30 locations along the beach, beside Laboratory Analyses for some kinds of Bacteria i.e. (F. Coliform, F. Strepto. Ps. Aeruginosa ) in the General health laboratory in the Health Ministry.

The declaration clarifies that by relating field results to lab. results and comparing with previous analyses 11 from 30 areas on the beach are absolutely NOT valid for swimming. They determined unsafe areas around pollution and made layout on Gaza Strip map. .

The declaration recommended providing treatment stations fuel and sparing parts which are needed for operation and avoiding sewage deflation directly to the sea without treatment, and making an Infrastructure for residential areas near the beach in order to avoid spillage of sewage into the sea.

It is now required to have banners and signs illustrating safe areas for swimming and regions , Depending on the contaminated badges annexed to the report, the work programs of public awareness about the dangers of swimming in contaminated water."
